With the adoption of the Sharm El Sheikh joint work on implementation of climate action in agriculture and food security at COP27 a landmark decision acknowledging the role of agriculture under the UNFCCC was reached. The decision has a clear focus on the implementation of the outcomes of the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture but also gives room for new topics.
The aim of this side event is to shed light on the challenges and the ways forward for shaping the transformation of agriculture and food systems, but also to critically address the needs for boosting innovation, research and implementation of action on the ground and to showcase how international collaboration can facilitate the process. The discussion shall include both aspects of mitigation and adaptation in the context of agriculture and food systems and provide a space for North-South exchange.
