Closing the gaps: A fast track for climate action and finance

13:15 – 14:15

Successful climate action will crucially depend on cooperation between industrialized and developing countries and emerging economies, as well as between the public and private sphere. However, aligning economic growth, industrial development and climate and nature action is a demanding task. As important enabler for integrated climate and biodiversity action in developing countries and emerging economies, accessibility and availability of climate and green finance play a crucial role. The event will focus on policies and best practices to facilitate the connection between these fields, as well as exploring ways to foster partnerships between public and private actors.

Next to high-level guests from partner countries and organisations, we are delighted to host the following speakers:

  • Robert Habeck, Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action
  • Stefan Tidow, State Secretary, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection
  • Jennifer Lee Morgan, State Secretary and Special Envoy for International Climate Action, Federal Foreign Office

During the event, Minister Robert Habeck will launch the Thematic Call of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) with up to 320 Mio. EUR of funding volume for developing and emerging countries.

As an important climate and biodiversity finance instrument, the IKI has a 15-year track record in supporting and financing climate and biodiversity action of partner countries globally
