Stefan Wenzel is Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and Member of the German Bundestag. Wenzel was born in Nakskov, Denmark on 5 May 1962. He studied agricultural economics at Göttingen University and graduated as Dipl. Ing. agr. Until 1998, he was partner in a wholesale and retail organic wine business. Wenzel entered the political arena as a Member of the state parliament (Landtag) of Lower Saxony, a position he held from 1998 to 2021. From February 2013 to November 2017, he served as Lower Saxony's Minister for the Environment, Energy, and Climate Action. Following this role, he assumed the position of Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Landtag of Lower Saxony from December 2017 to September 2021. In October 2021, Stefan Wenzel transitioned to the national stage, becoming a Member of the German Bundestag. In July 2022, he took on the role of Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
