Giacomo Grassi

Giacomo Grassi is a scientific officer at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, working on CO₂ fluxes from land use at EU and global levels.

He contributes to the design and implementation of EU legislation related to forests and climate, and conducts scientific analyses to assess the collective climate progress under the Paris Agreement.

He is an expert reviewer of greenhouse gas inventories for the UNFCCC, author of the Global Carbon Budget and various scientific reports by the IPCC and the UNEP.

Since July 2023, he is a Bureau member of the IPCC Task Force on national GHG inventories.
