Around the world young people are mobilizing for more ambitious climate action and are calling out the failure of governments to confront the climate crisis. But some children and youth climate activists face threats, harassment, assaults, arbitrary arrests and restrictions of their right to protest. This event will discuss how governments can live up to their obligation to realize children’s and young people’s rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association, drawing on the experiences of young climate activists, government representatives and human rights experts.
